Construction will now commence on the four-hour, 350 MW Wooreen energy storage system. Once completed in 2027, the system will be capable of powering 230,000 homes over a four-hour period before needing to be recharged.
[pdf] The project is located in the Kom Ombo area of Aswan, Egypt, and was built as an expansion of an existing 500 MW PV power plant. The energy storage station has a capacity of 150 MW/300 MWh and consists of 72 battery containers, 36 PCS-integrated units, and an intelligent control system.
