Iraq’s energy market is rapidly embracing lithium-ion battery technology, which has become the go-to solution for solar energy storage due to its efficiency and decreasing cost. Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries are widely used for their durability and energy density.
[pdf] Backed by our Alliance, and implemented by the state utility ESCOM, the project will install a 20MW/30MWh battery system in Lilongwe. The system will store electricity when supply is high and release it when demand peaks, helping balance the grid and support greater use of renewable energy.
[pdf] The project will install four 10-megawatt battery systems in key districts—San Pedro, Dangriga, Orange Walk, and Belize District—improving the country's ability to manage its power supply, reduce outages, and optimize electricity costs for consumers.
