The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has set March 18, 2025, as the deadline for bids on its ambitious plan to construct three large-scale battery storage facilities with a combined capacity of 1,800MW.
[pdf] The landmark project includes drafting and negotiating a power purchase agreement (PPA) and an implementation agreement with the Ministry of Finance, marking a significant step in Timor-Leste’s transition to renewable energy and modernising its electricity infrastructure.
[pdf] The project is planned to be built off the south-west tip of South Korea with the build site having recorded wind speeds of 7–8 m/s. Current plans are to begin construction, as well as marine works in 2023 or 2024.
